Municipal Election

For the 2021 Municipal Election, all Alberta Municipalities will also be hosting a Senate and Referendum vote on behalf of the Province.

Nomination Period
The Nomination period ended 12 noon on Nomination Day: Monday, September 20, 2021.

Candidate Nominations



Election Day
Election Day is Monday, October 18, 2021.

Spirit River Centennial Hall - 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Hospital (Institutional Residents Only) - 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Pleasant View Lodge (Institutional Residents Only) - 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Each Council member serves a four-year term. The elected Council then appoints a Mayor from within, on an annual basis.

Voter Eligibility

Voter Eligibility - You are eligible to vote in the Town of Spirit River Municipal Election if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
    > You are 18 years of age or over
    > You are a Canadian citizen
    > You live in Alberta
    > You are a resident of the Town of Spirit River on Election Day
    > You have acceptable voter identification
    > You have not voted in this election before
    > You sign a declaration that you meet these qualifications

Voter Identification Requirements

In order to vote, you must produce identification for inspection.
