Property Taxes

The tax amount on your combined Tax and Assessment Notice is for taxes levied for the current year.  The Tax and Assessment Notice for the Town of Spirit River are mailed out at the end of June and are due by August 31 each year without penalty.

If payment of taxes is not received by the due date of August 31, a penalty of 5%(5 percent) will be levied against any remaining unpaid taxes on the 1st day of September. A second penalty of 13% (13 percent) will be levied against any remaining unpaid taxes on the 6th business day of September.  Any outstanding arrears will receive a penalty of 18%(18 percent) on January 1 of each year.

Any outstanding arrears after two (2) years will be subject to the Tax Recovery Process.

The Town of Spirit River property taxes may consist of municipal and educational taxes, Grande Spirit, Recreation Tax and local improvement charges.

The Town of Spirit River has a number of different options to pay your Tax and Assessment Notice

In Person

Payment can be made in person at the Town of Spirit River Office at 4502 50 Street between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.  The Town of Spirit River accepts cash, cheque, and debit as forms of payment.

Drop Box

A drop box for payment is located near the front door of the Town of Spirit River Office at 4502 50 Street.  Please make sure to identify the account name and number with the payment information.

Telephone and Online Banking

At this time RBC and ATB are the only banks that are offered by the Town of Spirit River.
